The department provides math instruction appropriate to each student’s abilities.  Teachers enhance learning through the use of real world applications, technology, and visuals to encourage students to think critically. Students learn to approach each challenge arithmetically, analytically, graphically, and verbally.  The middle school places emphasis on problem-solving, understanding, and conceptual and computational competency.  Eighth grade students study either Math 8 or Algebra I. Algebra I has been combined with Algebra II to form a two-year algebra sequence.  Students will take the Algebra I regents at the completion of Algebra II. The grade earned at the end of Algebra I will appear on the student’s high school transcript.
